Trying to comprehend this concept lead me to an interesting mental picture.
I would imagine absolute truth to be truth that which could not be further explained by any further or deeper truth.
I imagine myself being able to shrink myself down to the smallest non divisible particle that is the most basic building block for everything, far beyond quarks or strings or whatever, the most basic elemental pieces of structure.
There I am standing next to these infinitesimally small particles, the most fundamental “thing” that makes everything.
In that moment I would be wondering, “Exactly how do these building blocks make up everything that “is”? How do these little individual pieces self assemble themselves into the infinitely complex universe we observe? Do we have consciousness due to the random chance these little guys happened to randomly self assemble themselves in a specific way?
The most basic pieces of our existence + time still leaves me wondering, “why would these little guys start to randomly do anything? Why are there laws of physics (I know the laws of physics change as you get smaller) that these little guys adhere to?”
Standing there looking at these little guys would make me think that there is something missing, something more that guides these little guys into a greater purpose.
I do believe there absolutely is a higher organizing power than we can directly observe, and to state otherwise seems to me to be rather arrogant and reactionary.
Now…on the other hand…
For me at this point to throw my hands up and say, “Ha, see! Here is something we cannot explain, here’s God!” Thats called a “God of the gaps” argument and it just does not work.
For me to be so arrogant as to say, “I know the one true way to God and it is thus and so and he likes this, doesn’t like that, you can do this but not do that…”
That seems rather…human.
Where do I go from here and why? How do you discern human meddling from the will of a creator, as it seems the will of a creator is mostly packaged in religion which is terribly tainted by human will?
